Trumpf 3030 3KW fiber laser
Being a fibre laser allows us to cut sheet metal and plate materials that would be difficult or impossible for conventional CO2 laser cutting machines. Materials such as brass alloys and copper have always been difficult to laser cut but not any more. With the same laser cutting head we can cope with all ferrous and non ferrous materials including zinc coated steels. Using special plastic coating parts can be laser cut in aluminium and stainless steel without the need for etch cuts cutting down processing time and producing a more economical part with a better edge finish whist protecting the component surface in production.
Laser cutting stainless steel
Stainless steel sheet and plate up to 15mm thick can be cut with our Trumpf 3030 3KW fiber laser with excellent results. Thicker plate will need the use of nitrogen gas in cutting for an oxide free profile edge but thinner sheets can be cut with compressed air and still produce a good edge finish. The speed of the fiber laser allows thin stainless steel to be cut at over 25M/min enabling outer profiles to be cut very quickly and also internal cutouts and holes to be produces fast and with no special tooling needs. We are already starting to produce excellent results with compressed air cutting and will be producing more blog posts on this subject soon.
Laser cutting aluminium
We can cut a range of aluminium alloys and thicknesses using Nitrogen or compressed are with the laser beam. Depending on the aluminium thickness the parts cut may not need to be deburred after cutting.
