Complicated sheet metal gear trays made easy with Trumpf 3000R CNC punch press
Electronic component gear trays are often used in the lighting industry to carry all the control components within a light fitting. The range of designs we manufacture for our customers is vast and this example here is typical of the requirements needed from a sheet metal component. The gear tray has both up formed and down formed plunged holes for self tapping screws to aid assembly, for more information on CNC punching tools see what is CNC punching? These forms do not have to be masked if being powder coated as the self tapping screws will cut through the powder coat into the sheet metal saving time and money on masking threads. The fingers will be bent to allow the gear tray to be spaced off the lighting housing to give clearance for all the electronic components and wiring.
